hubl privacy policy

We believe in being transparent about how we handle your data. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and what your rights are, whether you are shopping on hubl or selling through it.

1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

1.1 All Users

We collect account registration details including name, email address and phone number, shipping and billing addresses, profile information, device and browser information, IP address and location data, website usage data collected via Google Analytics and Google Firebase, and cookies and similar tracking technologies.

1.2 Sellers

In addition to the above, we collect business information including trade license and tax details, government-issued ID for seller verification, bank account details for payout processing via Stripe, and product listings and shop information.

1.3 Buyers

In addition to the general information above, we collect purchase history and order details, and payment information. Payments are processed securely through Stripe. hubl does not store complete card details on its servers.

1.4 Transaction Information

We collect records of purchases and sales, communications between buyers and sellers made through the platform, and product reviews and ratings submitted by buyers.

2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

2.1 Platform Operations

We use your information to facilitate transactions between buyers and sellers, process payments and manage payouts, provide customer support, verify seller credentials and identity, and ensure platform security and prevent fraud. Verification documents are accessible only to authorised hubl personnel for compliance and verification purposes.

2.2 Communications

We use your contact information to send transaction confirmations and order updates, deliver important platform notifications, respond to support requests and enquiries, and send marketing communications from hubl where you have given consent.

2.3 Marketing Consent

Buyers who register an account on hubl consent to receive marketing communications from hubl as part of the registration process. These communications may include platform updates, promotions, and curated product recommendations. You may opt out at any time through your account settings or via the unsubscribe link in any marketing email.

2.4 Platform Improvement

We use data to analyse usage patterns, develop new features, and maintain the security and performance of the platform.

3. SELLER OBLIGATIONS REGARDING BUYER DATA

This section applies specifically to sellers operating on hubl.

Sellers are granted access to buyer information, including name, contact details and shipping address, solely for the purpose of fulfilling orders placed through hubl.

Sellers are strictly prohibited from using buyer data for any purpose beyond order fulfilment. This includes but is not limited to adding buyers to external mailing lists or databases, sending unsolicited marketing communications, sharing buyer information with third parties, and using buyer data to solicit direct purchases outside of hubl.

Buyers who transact on hubl are customers of the hubl platform. They have not consented to receive marketing communications from individual sellers, and sellers must respect this.

Breach of this obligation is a violation of hubl's terms and conditions and may result in immediate suspension or permanent removal from the platform.

4. YOUR RIGHTS

4.1 Access and Control

You have the right to access your personal information through your account, update or correct your information at any time, download your data in a portable format, and request deletion of your account and associated data. We will respond to data access requests within 30 days.

4.2 Communication Preferences

You may opt out of marketing communications from hubl at any time, manage your notification preferences through your account settings, and control cookie preferences through our cookie banner.

5. INFORMATION SHARING

5.1 Between Buyers and Sellers

Seller shop information and product details are visible to all platform visitors. When a transaction takes place, the relevant order details are shared between the buyer and seller to enable fulfilment. This sharing is limited to what is necessary to complete the order.

5.2 Disputes and Returns

In the event of a dispute, complaint, or return, hubl may access and process personal data from both the buyer and seller involved. This data is handled confidentially and used solely for the purpose of resolving the matter. It is not used for any other purpose or shared beyond what is necessary.

5.3 With Service Providers

We share information with Stripe for payment processing and seller payouts, Hostinger for platform hosting and infrastructure, Google Analytics and Google Firebase for usage insights and analytics, and Meta (Facebook Pixel) for advertising and retargeting purposes. All service providers are contractually obligated to handle your data securely and in accordance with applicable law.

5.4 Legal Requirements

We may share information when required by UAE law or legal proceedings, to protect the rights and safety of our users, or to prevent fraud or illegal activity.

6. USER GENERATED CONTENT

By submitting a review, rating, or any other content on hubl, you grant hubl a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display that content publicly on the platform. You are responsible for ensuring that any content you submit does not violate the rights of any third party. hubl reserves the right to remove content that violates our terms and conditions.

7. EXTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS

During the onboarding process and in the course of platform support, hubl may communicate with sellers via external channels including Instagram and WhatsApp. Any personal information exchanged through those channels is subject to the privacy policies of those respective platforms. We encourage you to review their policies directly. hubl will always aim to transition ongoing communication to official channels at hello@hubl.shop where possible.

8. DATA SECURITY

8.1 Security Measures

We implement industry-standard encryption for data transmission, secure servers and regular security updates, access controls and authentication protocols, and regular security monitoring.

8.2 Payment Security

Payments are processed by Stripe. hubl does not store complete card details on its servers. All transactions are encrypted and secure.

9. DATA RETENTION

9.1 Retention Periods

Account information is retained while your account is active. Transaction records are retained for 7 years as required by UAE law. Marketing data is retained until you opt out. Technical and analytics data is retained for 2 years.

9.2 Seller Verification Documents

Identity and business verification documents submitted by sellers, including trade licenses and government-issued ID, are retained only for as long as the seller maintains an active account on hubl. Upon account closure, voluntary withdrawal, suspension, or removal from the platform, these documents will be permanently deleted within 30 days. Retention beyond this period will only occur where required by UAE law.

9.3 Data Deletion

Account data is deleted within 30 days of account closure. Some information may be retained longer for legal compliance. Anonymised data may be retained for analytics purposes.

10. COOKIES AND TRACKING

10.1 Cookie Usage

We use essential cookies required for platform functionality, analytics cookies to understand how the platform is used including Google Analytics and Firebase, and marketing cookies for personalised advertising including Meta (Facebook Pixel). Marketing cookies are only placed with your consent.

10.2 Cookie Control

You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings or through our cookie banner. Disabling certain cookies may affect platform functionality.

11. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS

Data is hosted on Hostinger servers within the UAE and GCC region. Some service providers including Stripe, Google Analytics, Firebase and Meta may process data internationally. All international transfers comply with UAE data protection requirements.

12. THIRD PARTY LINKS

Our platform may contain links to external websites or seller social pages. hubl is not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any external sites you visit.

13. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

Our platform is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from minors. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will promptly delete their account and associated data. Parents or guardians who believe their child has created an account should contact us at hello@hubl.shop.

14. UPDATES TO THIS POLICY

14.1 Policy Changes

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. Users will be notified of significant changes via email or platform notification at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
